We, Post Commander Johnny Ornelaz, Senior Vice-Commander Lee Rivas and Junior Vice-Commander Ruben Cadena, extend a sincere thank you to all our VFW Post 76 Comrades for your vote of confidence in letting us lead and manage this Post.
Our Post will continue to excel in our VFW mission. Our VFW mission is to: VFW Post 76 shall be fraternal, patriotic, historical, charitable and educational; to preserve and strengthen comradeship among our members, to assist worthy comrades; to perpetuate the memory and history of our dead and to assist their widows and orphans; to maintain true allegiance to the Government of the United States of America and fidelity to its institutions of American freedom and to preserve and defend the United States from all enemies, whomever.
The Post, under the new administration, will build on the foundation passed by our previous administration. The members of VFW Post 76 and the new administration would like to thank the past administration for their outstanding achievements. We proudly and respectfully salute Past Post Commander Albert Mireles and Past Junior Vice-Commander Robert Hernandez for their outstanding leadership and management of our great Post! Johnny Ornelaz, Senior Vice-Commander in the past administration, is now the new Post Commander.
We look forward to the coming year. This coming year will be the most important year of our Post…the oldest Post in Texas. The National Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States granted, VFW Post 76, its charter on June 26, 1917. In June 2017 we will celebrate our 100th Post Anniversary Commemoration. Planning for special events to commemorate this special 100th anniversary will begin in July 2016 to ensure proper and timely planning.
We cannot end this current story without acknowledging and saluting the outstanding support we have received from the Post’s Comrades, VFW Auxiliary, all the Committee Members, the Canteen Staff and especially all the Volunteers who have contributed countless and countless hours of their time to make this Post the finest within the VFW. We stand proud behind each of our Comrades, VFW Auxiliary, Committee Members, Canteen Staff and Volunteers.
We respectfully assume the leadership and management of our great Post. We ask our Comrades, VFW Auxiliary, Committee Members, Canteen Staff and Volunteers to continue supporting us for this coming new fiscal year. We will uphold the finest traditions of the VFW and provide you accountability and transparency in how VFW Post 76 conducts its mission. We cannot succeed without your continued dedicated support.
